TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The House of Representatives (DPR) deputy speaker Muhaimin Iskandar skipped the investigation summons issued by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). According to KPK, the PKB party chairman did not submit reasons for his absence.
“No notification letter [from Muhaimin] to date,” said the KPK’s head of reporting and publication Yuyuk Andriati in her office, Jakarta, Tuesday, November 19.
Yuyuk said that investigators would reschedule the probe on Muhaimin, known as Cak Imin. However, she stopped short of mentioning the exact date.
Cak Imin was called in by the anti-graft body as a witness in the bribery case for the public works and public housing ministry’s infrastructure projects in 2016. He will be questioned for the suspect entrepreneur Hong Arta John Alfred.
The KPK was set to grill Cak Imin after finding new evidence related to the distribution of the bribe as exposed by the suspect, who was former PKB politician, Musa Zainuddin.
Musa was sentenced to nine years imprisonment as he was found guilty of taking a bribe worth Rp7 billion to pass the infrastructure projects in Maluku and North Maluku. The money was earned from PT Windu Tunggal Utama CEO Abdul Khoir.
From behind the bars, former member of the House’s Commission Infrastructure offered himself as a justice collaborator to the KPK at the end of July 2019. Musa claimed he did not take the bribe money for himself, but several party leaders including Muhaimin Iskandar through PKB’s faction secretary at that time, Jazilul Fawaid.
